La Romana
Platja La Romana, Peguera Romana or Platja dels Morts is the smallest of the three beaches, together with Peguera Palmira and Peguera Torà, which form Peguera. It is situated at seven kilometres from Andratx, between Peguera Torà and sa Punta des Gats. The name of Peguera is given by the oven that was used to extract the resin from the pine trees. La Romana was given by the possessió with the same name which was the origin of this touristic area, and dels Morts because of the prehistoric tombs which were found in the surroundings. The rear of this coast is occupied by houses, hotels and other facilities for mass tourism, some of them hidden by the pine trees and some bushes that reach the coastline. The beach has fine-grained white sand as well as the ground of Platja des Mort. If you go east from here and pass the rocky inlet you will find a small stony cove, a quiet option next to the crowded Peguera Romana. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good because of the exposition to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest. There is a sandy ground and the depth ranges from three and five metres. At 1,9 nautical miles there is Club Nàutic Santa Ponça. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs until Peguera Torà, where there is a promenade that leads to Platja La Romana. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located nearby. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
